C2960 no SSH command available

i was just handed over administration of a cisco 2960, i was surprised to see that it had telnet instead of SSH. but when i tried to set up ssh. the crypto and the IP SSH commands do not exist.! 

Switch(config)#crypto ?

am i missing something??

You need an IOS that support security which includes SSH.

What is the output of "sh ver"?

You need to download an image that has the letter "K" and number "9" in it

see example:

c2960-lanbasek9-mz.150-1.SE3.bin

i see, i dont know why they would order half of the switches with that IOS :/ , i guess its upgrade time.

Sometimes the switches come with a standard image that does not support it and it may not matter until you want to deploy security (ssh) and find out you can't.
