Hello,

I am having troubles to get 2 C3750-X switches WS-C3750-X-48P-L) to stack.   They are both running  iOS 15.0(2)-UNIVERSALK9, and are licensed for IP Base.

If I connect stack port 1 of switch 1 to stack port 2 of switch 1, and  stack port 1 of switch 2to stack port 2 of switch 2 I get the following:

WS-C3750-X_STACK1_SW1>show switch stack-ports summary

Switch#/  Stack   Neighbor   Cable    Link   Link   Sync      #         In
Port#     Port              Length    OK   Active   OK    Changes   Loopback
          Status                                          To LinkOK
--------  ------  --------  --------  ----  ------  ----  ---------  --------
1/1     OK         1      50 cm     Yes    Yes    Yes        1        No
1/2     OK         1      50 cm     Yes    Yes    Yes        1        No

WS-C3750-X_STACK1_SW2>show switch stack-ports summary

Switch#/  Stack   Neighbor   Cable    Link   Link   Sync      #         In
Port#     Port              Length    OK   Active   OK    Changes   Loopback
          Status                                          To LinkOK
--------  ------  --------  --------  ----  ------  ----  ---------  --------
1/1     OK         1      50 cm     Yes    Yes    Yes        1        No
1/2     OK         1      50 cm     Yes    Yes    Yes        1        No

Based on this I am coming to the conclusion the cables and the stack ports are good on both switches.

Then if I connect switch 1 stack port 1 to switch 2 stack port 2 on switch 2 I get the following:

WS-C3750-X_STACK1_SW1#show switch stack-ports summary

Switch#/  Stack   Neighbor   Cable    Link   Link   Sync      #         In
Port#     Port              Length    OK   Active   OK    Changes   Loopback

1/1     Down      None    50 cm     Yes    No     Yes        1        No
1/2     Absent    None    No cable  No     No     No         2        No

WS-C3750-X_STACK1_SW2#show switch stack-ports summary

Switch#/  Stack   Neighbor   Cable    Link   Link   Sync      #         In

1/2     Down      None    50 cm     Yes    No     Yes        1        No

Lastly if I connect switch 1 stack port 1 to switch 2 stack port 2 on switch 2 and switch 2 stack port 1 to switch 1 stack port 2 on switch 2 I get the following:

WS-C3750-X_STACK1_SW1#show switch stack-ports summary

Switch#/  Stack   Neighbor   Cable    Link   Link   Sync      #         In
Port#     Port              Length    OK   Active   OK    Changes   Loopback

1/1     Down      None    50 cm     Yes    No     Yes        1        No
1/2     Down      None    50 cm     Yes    No     Yes        2        No

WS-C3750-X_STACK1_SW2#show switch stack-ports summary

Switch#/  Stack   Neighbor   Cable    Link   Link   Sync      #         In
Port#     Port              Length    OK   Active   OK    Changes   Loopback

--------  ------  --------  --------  ----  ------  ----  ---------  --------
1/1     Down      None    50 cm     Yes    No     Yes        2        No
1/2     Down      None    50 cm     Yes    No     Yes        1        No

I have tried restarting (powering off for about 1 min and turning back on) simultaneously, and powering off switch 1 for 1 min and switch 2 for 2 min.   I have also tried both enabling the stack ports, and disabling followed by enabling.

I am out of ideas, and I am sure I probably missed something.    I appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Thx

Bryan

Hi Bryan,

Please make sure that the cables are walked down into the receptacle and tightened as much as

reasonably possible with a screw driver. A single loose pin can cause

this condition. We use the ground pin to detect t

he cable. In fact, I recommend reseating the cable completely.

Here are the outputs and their meaning

Stack Port Status

*Absent-No cable is detected on the StackWise port.

*Down-A cable is detected, but either no connected neighbor is up, or

the StackWise port is disabled.

*OK-A cable is detected, and the connected neighbor is up.

For further troubleshooting, please send in the output to
