C9300 System LED stays amber

Apparently, the switch was on Status green blinking light and checked that it was on rommon mode. After recovering it from rommon mode suddenly the System LED light turned amber. I already checked hardware failures, but all status is good or ok also tried rebooting the Switch several times still the amber status is there. I can't consider the device faulty since it is operating in normal way.

Is the power supply in Bay 1 or Bay 2?

If there is only one power supply and it is in Bay 2, the SYS LED may turn to amber.

It has 2 PSU... see the screenshot, even we have restored the 1A PSU and reloaded the switch it stays amber.

Is the LED actually BLINKING?

it is not blinking at all

Post the complete output to the command "sh post".

Hello @tmcepe ,

can you share the output for the following commands:

show inventory

show diagnostic post

@tmcepe

It seems like the amber System LED might indicate a software issue or a configuration mismatch rather than a hardware fault, especially since the switch is functioning normally. You could try reloading the IOS image or performing a factory reset to see if it resolves the issue. If the problem persists, verify the running configuration and logs for any clues. Let me know how it goes!

Hi @tmcepe

System LED will be in Amber when System is receiving power but is not functioning properly.

The failure is due to one of the following reasons

  • Fan failure.

  • System POST failure.

I see from your show env all output, FAN 2 and 3 are not present or faulty. Can you check the status of Fan 2 and 3?
