C9500-12q connecting to a C2960G

Hello and thanks for any feedback,

c9500-12q trunk port attempting to connect to a c2960G, link light active on c9500-12q side only, not on the 2960G.

I am successful at connecting the c9500 to 2960x's but not G's.

(speed nonegotiate - command not recognized on the G)

c9500-12q

software version 16.12.03a

    switchport mode trunk

        (defaults left in auto)

c2960G -48TC-L

software version 12.2 (55) SE12 lanbasek9-m

    switchport mode trunk

    (switchport trunk allowed vlan all)

* port shows down, not connected.

* physical layer test fine on fiber cabling and tranceivers, genuine Cisco

Transceiver, GLC-SX-MM matched in the Cisco cross reference guide, swapped others, no difference. Works fine with the 2960X. Also in use in the c9500-12q module in the port slot.

Interface capabilities reviewed, no helpful errors noticed.

Ideas?

So, on the 9500, you are using a breakout cable right? If yes, I think that maybe the issue, as 2960G is very very old.

HTH

No breakout cable, just a standard 2 strand 6' patch fiber optic cable.

Cables, several tested, SFPS, many tested, all work in other models.

Yes, aware of the age, have lots still around working fine until I introduced the 9500 to the mix.

Ok, I thought the c9500-12q comes with 12 40Gig ports (MPO type connector) and if you want to convert them to 10Gig (LC) you need a breakout cable. Table;-6 in this link:

@Reza Sharifi  that is what my  impression, but the original poster confirms that it works other 2960 models ( except G model)

This is Odd after tried all options.s
