I am trying to upload the faxmail application onto my 2801 ISR, but am getting the following error when I try to upgrade

I tried typing in "format flash:" but I get this error

Michael,
Although I am not sure if that helps, try using colons when using the copy command, i.e.:
copy tftp: flash:
Also, what is the IOS version you are running currently? What does the show flash: filesys command say?
Best regards,
Peter

As Peter noted, try it like this:
T-1#copy ftp: flash:?
flash:128MB.sdf flash:c2800nm-adventerprisek9_ivs-mz.124-3g.bin flash:common.tar flash:es.tar
flash:home.shtml flash:home.tar flash:sdm.tar flash:sdmconfig-28xx.cfg
flash:sslclient-win-1.1.0.154.pkg flash:startup-config
T-1#copy ftp: flash:
This above is from a 2821 router
Also, is your ftp server reachable?

You can also format the flash first and them load the image, but make sure not to reboot the router until you load the new image to the flash, if not the router will not boot
format flash:

As Glen noted, can you issue "sh ver" and see if you even have a flash card? if you do, the last line of the output should show some thing like below:
62720K bytes of ATA CompactFlash (Read/Write)

I don't see a CF in sh ver. If there is one you should see this line in sh ver:
62720K bytes of ATA CompactFlash (Read/Write)
If there is one then it is not inserted all the way or it is defective

I'll the ask question first , is there a compact flash installed or is it possible someone walked off with it ? Did you try resetting the compact flash card?
11-14-2010 12:43 PM
Yes there's a compact flash card installed
How would I reset the compact flash card? I tried format flash: with no success

1. Are you sure the CF is properly seated?
2. Can you try a different CF?
3. Is this a Cisco proprietary CF or a 3rd party CF?
How would I reset the compact flash card? I tried format flash: with no success
Eject the CF with the lever. Be sure that the CF is properly inserted. Inserted incorrectly and the pins will bend/break.Find answers to your questions by entering keywords or phrases in the Search bar above. New here? Use these resources to familiarize yourself with the community:
