Dear all,

My existing WS-C3850-24T switches running 03.03.03.SE version, it is very old and existing a lot of bugs and defects. Is it possible upgrade the switch from the existing version to cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.09.E.152-2.E9.bin directly ? or need to upgrade to interim version first ?

Hi,

You should be able to upgrade directly. Before upgrade always read through the release notes to ensure there are no caveat/restrictions/limitations that might impact your environment.

thanks

John

You can go direct, however, take the time to read the Release Notes for 3.6.X to make sure you're "covered" for any eventualities.

You can upgrade right away from any version in IOS XE switches, even to Polaris releases.

As you are running 3.3.3SE in install mode, once the 3.6.9 binary is copied into the active flash directory (flash:) you can use the following command:

software install file flash:file.bin switch 1-2 new force

Make sure to delete previous IOS booting files (.bin or .pkg) from older releases that you are no longer using to release some capacity.
