I currently have an older WS-C3560E-48PD-S that only has a 420 W power supply. We have hit our limit on power and we have a mid-span pannel that is available to us. We attempted to use the midspan but the devices continue to try and draw power from the POE port. Easy enough I thought, just use the "inline power never" command on the ports that are using the mid-span. When i did that on one of the ports the device would not power up at all. If I unplug the same device from that port and plug it into a mid-span port that is NOT connected to the 3560 the device poweres up and searches for an ethernet connection. The 3560E has a 2 year uptime and so we do have a reboot planned just to see if that works but I have not been able to find any documentation on whether you can mix and match POE with Mid-span and not break things.
