Hi

Just bought my 1st cisco router and I had it all configure using the SDM ready to plug in to my dsl connection with yhe dsl username and password and settings configured and my port forwarding configured with NAT.

I unplugged it and moved to the next room to plug into my dsl connection but now I cannot connect to on the LAN at all.

I have tried connecting on the factory IP and various others but nothing is happening.

Can anyone help by instructiing me on how to reset the router to the defaults to start again or if there is anyway of finding out why I cannot connect

Hi There

You should have received a console cable (light blue in color, DB9 at one end, RJ45 at the other). Connect the DB9 end to the COM port on your laptop/PC and the RJ45 end to the console port on the router.

Then Configure hyper terminal with the following settings,

Bits per second: 9600

Parity: None

Stop Bits: 1

Flow Control: none

Then fire up your router and login via console. Of course you will need to know your way around the CLI.

Best Regards,

Michael
