Hi all I am trying to copy a license file from TFTP-Server(Solarwind)
following done
the TFTP server is using the Ethernet card IP and it is of the same octet as the router interface and these both interfaces are p2p and I am able to
ping the Ethernet Ip from router and also I am able to ping my Router from CMD on my laptop.
The license file is kept in the TFTP-Root directory(directory name assigned by default)
ISSUE
when I run the command copy tftp: flash: followed by IP address of server and file names it gives me an error of NO SUCH FILE OR DIRECTORY
and it does not access the TFTP server,
please an early response is needed on this

hi,
typo maybe? try to copy/paste the file name (including .lic) and ensure TFTP is pointed to the right directory.
can you try using other free TFTP software (ie. TFTP32 and 3CDaemon)?

Bro I am using copy and paste from the filename sent to me by cisco-tac along with the valid extension name .lic
can u please elaborate what u meant by tftp pointing in the right direction.....wht i understand from this is that u r asking me to check the file location???
and if u r asking the file location then it is kept in the same tftp directory
early response is awaited

yes, make sure it's the correction file location or directory and TFTP is allowed on your PC firewall. can you give a screenshot of the error?
have you tried with other TFTP program as suggested above?
if your ISR router has USB port, then you could also use a USB stick and copy the license file using the copy usbflash0 command.

yeah I can share this info tomorrow once I get back to office table for sure
but I am sure u are looking for the interface status..
interface is Up/Up and 2-way reachability has already been established
the server is using my local LAN Ip of my laptop. :)

hi,
you're pinging 10.132.35.250. can you ping 10.132.35.155 instead?
can you give a screenshot of the TFTP 'general' tab? make sure TFTP service is enabled or started and TFTP root directory is pointed to where the license file is located.
is this a remote router? if it's just sitting next to you why don't you try the USB approach suggested above?

As I read this discussion it seems to me that there are two things that might be responsible for this behavior:
1) perhaps there is some problem with this specific file.
2) perhaps there is some problem about using tftp between this router and this copy of solar winds on this laptop.
So I suggest these steps to try to troubleshoot the problem:
1) try to copy some file from flash on the router to the laptop running solar winds. If the copy is successful then check to be sure that the file is in the expected directory. This tests the validity of using tftp between this router and this laptop and verifies the tftp directory. If the copy is not successful then troubleshoot problems with tftp.
2) try to copy some other file from the tftp directory to the router. If this copy is successful then there is some issue with the file that you are trying to copy.

when I run the command copy tftp: flash: followed by IP address of server and file names it gives me an error of NO SUCH FILE OR DIRECTORY
Post the complete command syntax used.
The error message of "no such file or directory" means file or directory used in the syntax is incorrect. There is also a strong possibility that the SolarWinds default directory is pointing to the wrong subdirectory.
There is one way of testing this out. Copy a file from the switch to the TFTP server and give the file a unique name (and file extension). Then use Windows to search for the exact location where this file is located.
