Cat 3850 Fails to Boot and doesn't go to ROMMON !

Hi All

Looking for some help with a 3850-48P switch.

I went to upgrade the IOS to a later version and after going thru upgrade procedure and reloading switch, it now fails to boot.

Furthermore to this it will not even boot to ROMMON mode..

Tried using Mode button several times at different intervals( some people indicate the time held in can be longer that recommended)

Wondering if anyone knows what is going on here or seen this behavior before?

Console outputs the following several times then halts, and All LEDS are on with ACTV, XPS, S-PWR being amber all others are green.

I know the reason why:  The appliance is loaded with SDA image.

It is "working fine" -- This is the behaviour of the appliance when running SD Access (aka SDA).

Hi Leo

Thanks for your reply, but are you sure ?

Seems like its not working at all!

The LED's don't function like the other 3850 switches I have, apart from their initial power-on and that's the way they stay. There is no activity on either USB or Serial Console apart from the spurt of info given at power-on where it is repeated 6 times then becomes unresponsive..

All  ethernet UTP I/F and Management I/F do not bring up a link LED

Mode button and reset switch do nothing..

So I am thinking Somehow my upgrade caused a hardware fault..

cheers

Jeff

I reviewed my last response and I have provided the wrong information.

I believe the unit could be faulty.

I have a similar problem. I updated the stack of two switches from firmware 03.02.03 to the latest one and the two switches became inaccessible with exactly the same symptoms. The first time I come across that after a simple update procedure even rommon mode becomes unavailable.

I have three switches this problem.

Was you able to solve this problem with yours?

I'm not able to get into rommon on any of them?

We had to change switches under warranty.

I also had to replace under maintenance contract!
