We have a 6500 with two symptoms. Don't know if these are related
1. sup-bootdisk: lists as empty but space is consumed.
Directory of sup-bootdisk:/
No files in directory
512024576 bytes total (429498368 bytes free)
show file systems snippet
* 512024576 429498368 disk rw sup-bootdisk: sup-bootflash:
2. CPU-HOG and traceback messages in the log
Jul 29 15:38:04.653 CET-DST: %SYS-SP-3-CPUHOG: Task is running for (2000)msecs, more than (2000)msec
s (0/0),process = RFSS_server_action.
-Traceback= 4045CE00 4045F208 4045F114 4047F06C 4047E948 4047EF2C 40481B04 40489B14 40489FDC 4048AB6
C 404859F4 4048ADBC 404812B8 402E4098 40451198 4029A640
Messages appear in log in clusters of at least 10 within a couple of minutes after that it can be quiet in the log for hours. Latest logs oldest message is from 1:17am and I count 12 messages like this between then and 1:18am. After this it goes quiet until 3:38pm the same date when the local techie insert a compact flash card and configure boot from that in case it would reload itself..
Jul 29 15:12:43.802 CET-DST: %FILESYS-SP-5-DEV: PCMCIA flash card inserted into disk1
Jul 29 15:32:35.151 CET-DST: %SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from console by petbro onvty0 (172.16.195.1

NOTE 6min between
Jul 29 15:38:04.653 CET-DST: %SYS-SP-3-CPUHOG: Task is running for (2000)msecs, more than (2000)msec

followed by another 13 similar CPUHOG/Traceback messages.
I have taken note that the traceback data is not the same every time.
this is the hardware and software listing:

I have run the show tech-support through output enterpreter without any luck.
The closest bug I can find is CSCsj06593 but that deals wiith a Cat 4500 sup4 and redundant supervisories....
I have not attached the show-tech since it might conatain some sensitive info. I'll have to check with management if I can attach it as it or if I have to clean it up first.
Edit regarding problem #1
Trying to re-format the sup-bootdisk flash failed totally
l3sw5dd#format sup-bootdisk:
Format operation may take a while. Continue? [confirm]
Format operation will destroy all data in "sup-bootdisk:". Continue? [confirm]
%Error formatting sup-bootdisk (Format failure - Drive Communication)
Guess at least that problem points towards hardware.

Try "squeeze sup-bootflash:".

They are related. You are having problem with the flash memory in the SUP (sup-bootdisk:).
