Hi Community

Can anyone let me know if the Catalyst 1000 Series Switch Running SW Version 15.2 (7) E4 supports the Device Sensor Feature? If not any road map for it ?

The Catalyst 1000 Series Switch running software version 15.2(7)E4 does not support the Device Sensor feature. The Device Sensor feature is typically supported on higher-end Cisco switch models such as the Catalyst 9000 series.

The Device Sensor feature, which is used for collecting device information and populating it in a RADIUS or DHCP server, is more advanced and is usually found on switches designed for more complex network environments. The Catalyst 1000 series is targeted towards smaller networks and provides essential enterprise-grade switching features without the full range of advanced capabilities found in higher-end models.

For precise information and confirmation, it's always good to refer to the official Cisco documentation or release notes for your specific switch model and software version. Here's a general approach to find this information:

Cisco Feature Navigator: This tool on Cisco's website allows you to check which features are supported by different IOS versions and switch models. You can search for "Device Sensor" and see if it is supported on the Catalyst 1000 series.

Cisco Documentation: Check the official configuration guides and release notes for the Catalyst 1000 series. These documents provide detailed information about the features supported in each software release.

Based on the typical feature sets of Cisco switches, it is safe to say that the Catalyst 1000 series running IOS 15.2(7)E4 does not include support for the Device Sensor feature.

Catalyst 1000 does not support the "device-sensor" command.

I doubt it.  Cisco wants to get rid of classic IOS which the Catalyst 1000, Cisco Micro Switch and IE 4000 are the last vestige of this once stable OS.  I cannot comment on the 1200/1300 since these two switches do not operate on IOS and are a complete unknown to me.

Just because the command "device-sensor" is not supported does not mean Dot1X is not going to work.  We have >200 stacks of 2960S that have Dot1X enabled since 2015 and they have been flawless and the platform OS is stable (>4 years uptime is common).
