Catalyst 2960L WebUI working but not loading page

Hi all,

I have a strange behavior from WebUI. After updating a 2960L to 15.2.7E3 I have been unable to access the content of the switch web pges.

The HTML folder is there, after learning that the .tar file is the right upgrade (initially updated to the wrong .bin file losing HTML).

When connecting via HTTP (Edge Chromium and Chrome) the login popup shows but once past that, the page has trouble loading: it flashes as if to start showing something that gets immediately suppressed.

I believe this is a Windows or browser problem. This would be with latest versions of both Chrome and Edge (Chromium) on up-to-date Windows 10, on a wired network. I have the switch IP in Trusted Sites, allowed everything in Site Settings for the particular site address, firewall is down.

A Google search on the problem did not yield useful results. I doubt this is a new bug or issue. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

I think that is a browser issue. Try using MS edge browser that comes with windows 10 and test.

Reza, Thank you for responding. I was on Chromium-based Edge already.

In the meantime, however, I have tried IE on Windows10 and that browser loads the pages, but not all frames. As seen in the image below, for example, Switch View is not available. Should anyone have suggestions, I would be happy to test.

Hello,

just a thought: try and clear the browser cache, that sometimes helps...

Hi Georg,

Yes, sometimes it does. Tried that, no change. Also tried on a different Windows 10 box and had the exact same issues.

Is Java up to date on your PC?

Cisco was never good at software development.

Ain't that the truth.

Leo,

It is only going to get worse especially now that AWS is taking all their switching and routing business and converting it to software as a service. AWS is making everything so easy. It's all point and clicks nowadays.

HTH

It APPEARS that a complete new install of Java AND enabling Flash manually has fixed the issue. However, not without some restarts. Chrome worked off the bat while Edge (Chromium) took a restart. I will keep an eye on the issue. The OS+WebUI update added a ton of functionalities to the Web UI making it actually useful and worth the work to update (after killing it yesterday - different thread).

I have to be honest, I am new to Cisco managed switches, and I am not impressed. I worked at Intel for a number of years starting out of college as a sw tester and the documentation inconsistencies, the compatibility failures, the scant information provided, the broken links and awful navigation of the main web site that I see here would never have passed. I will tell you I also tried to configure a Catalyst 1000 at this same time and just send it back when I could not even get to the configurator: the guides have it wrong. The only thing here is the community that is an unbelievable help.

I will shortly post other info as requested by Leo just to get to he bottom of it.

Oh good.  You haven't seen the information found in the majority of Bug IDs.

Leo,

Want a cheap laugh? First thing I saw when finally managed to open the page on a browser was a bug that appears to be undocumented/unreported. (Not that I would care to.)
The POE power consumption pie chart in Web UI does not report power in use. As you can see from the image attached, pie chart reports zero power consumption, while clearly two ports are supplying power to devices, and a mouse hover alt-tag correctly displays remaining power budget (154.6) as I am using 40.4W on 195W total power budget.
