Hello
I got a Lab switch cisco 3550 48 port EMI running IOS Version 12.2(44)SE6. and my original problem is that the switch does not route between Vlans, but before I get to that point I have a more basic problem the switch cant ping anything directly connected to it. so the first thing I did was to wipe the config from the switch and got it back to factory default then gave it an ip address (10.1.1.10/24) and gave my laptop an ip address(10.1.1.100/24) now from the laptop I can ping the switch and can telnet to the switch but from the switch I can ping the laptop, keep in mind I have no other configurations on the switch. can anyone help me out on why am I having this problem? below is my config

but from the switch I can ping the laptop
Did you mean to say you can't ping the laptop ?
If so check for a firewall on the laptop.

sorry it was a typo but yes your correct I can't ping from the switch, and my firewall on the laptop is disable

If you can ping and telnet to the switch then you have connectivity.
Sorry to ask again but are you sure there is nothing blocking the inbound pings on your laptop eg. sometime virus protection could still be running some sort of firewall.

Hi Jon
thanks for your reply I double checked the firewall setting and it turns out on the laptop was using there was a group policy preventing me from getting a ping reply on the switch because its a work laptop, I tried it on my personal laptop and it works just fine.
Thank you everyone for the help
