Hi all,
We have a discrepancy issue with one of our Cisco orders, here are the details:
If the quotation of a Cisco dealer shows Catalyst 6509 switch with these two items in it:
1- Cat 6500 Supervisor 720 with 2 ports 10GbE and MSFC3 PFC3C, P/N: VS-S720-10G-3C, Quantity =1
2- Catalyst 6500 Supervisor 720 with 2 10GbE ports, P/N: VS-S720-10G, Quantity =1
And upon delivery that dealer delivered only one Supervisor engine, shouldn’t they be two for redunduncy?, that dealer claims it's Cisco standard quotation, is that true?, Is there a clarification on Cisco website to support that claim, because we have to clarify that discrepancy to the accounting department which is not technical.
Thanks in advance.

In my experience Cisco quotes include the part numbers for all the various sub-modules, memory etc that make up a device. In the case of the Supervisor card VS-S720-10G-3C that you have requested the Cisco config tool gives the following part numbers as being part of that:
Included: VS-F6K-MSFC3
Catalyst 6500 Multilayer Switch Feature Card (MSFC) III 0.00 1 USD 0.00 21 Days
Included: VS-F6K-PFC3C
Catalyst 6500 Sup 720-10G Policy Feature Card 3C 0.00 1 USD 0.00 21 Days
Included: VS-S720-10G
Catalyst 6500 Supervisor 720 with 2 10GbE ports 0.00 1 USD 0.00 21 Days
Included: CF-ADAPTER-SP
SP adapter with compact flash for SUP720 0.00 1 USD 0.00 21 Days
Included: MEM-C6K-CPTFL1GB
Catalyst 6500 Compact Flash Memory 1GB 0.00 1 USD 0.00 21 Days
Included: BF-S720-64MB-RP
Bootflash for SUP720-64MB-RP
As you can see the 2nd part number you referenced in your orignal post is one of the 'parts' of the VS-S720-10G-3C along with the daughter cards, memory cards etc. I would expect it to have a zero cost against it on your quote.
If you want a second supervisor for redundancy then you need quantity 2 of the line item VS-S720-10G-3C. The quote would then show qty 2 of all the sub-items
Hope this answers your query.

the 6500 supervisor 720-10G has 2 version, one is VS-S720-10G-3C,the other is VS-S720-10G-3CXL,
if the version is defferent, you should not make the two supervisors redunduncy for SSO status

Thank you "aacj231210",
So if you were me and found those two items in the quotation, you would not ask for 2 supervisor engines, you will accept just one?
