Hello networking demi-gods
I am pretty new to the cisco configuration game but this should be a pretty easy setup. It's just 2 catalyst 48 port switches connected via an SFP fiber port on each switch.
All the ports are access ports in vlan 1001 except the uplink port between the switches which is a trunk port. None of the vlans or the switch itself has been configured with an IP address
The ports linking the 2 switches are GI 1/1/1 on both switches
I am seeing the port and line protocol are up but communication is not consistent.
I am having a lot of communication issues between the 2 switches where sometimes pings go through and sometimes they don't.
Do I have any issues with the configuration on these switches?

- That can be related to configured (configuring) faults on the devices indeed , start by checking the logs on both switches,

- Please also note : VLAN numbers 1001 to 1024 are reserved by Cisco . use other vlans (and or numbers for your purpose)

We do not have much information about this environment and that makes it difficult to give good advice. As a starting point can you explain to us why all of the ports are configured as access ports, and the switch to switch connection is a trunk? That is not necessarily a problem, but would like to understand the reason for it.
There might be something in the config that is causing the behavior and so I would ask that you post the current running config (with any sensitive information obscured).
To help us understand the environment would you post the output of these commands:
show cdp neighbor detail
show interface status
show ip interface brief
show arp
