What did the other forums recommend?

I was not able to find a scenario with failing to boot in the exact same way.

A helpful redditor suggest I change the BOOT_LOADER_UPGRADE_DISABLE variable to 0 , but that didn't help.

RMA the switch.

Seems it was failing when attempting to load the startup config .

I bypassed it with SWITCH_BYPASS_STARTUP_CFG=1 and got into ios.

did a copy run start, set SWITCH_BYPASS_STARTUP_CFG=0, and the switch is working properly now!
