Change Boot System IOS

So I do the no boot system flash:(IOS Name)

then boot system flash:(New IOS Name)

wr mem

I do sh run | inc boot

It DOES show the new IOS as the boot system but when I do show version or show hardware it shows the old IOS I said NO BOOT to.

Am I missing something here?

Did you reboot the switch after changing the boot statement ? 

If you haven't then make sure you have typed it in correctly before you do.

Sorry yes I rebooted. I did the no boot, boot, reload, etc. process many times. Still shows the old IOS in show hardware.

What did the console show when it was booting up ? 

What is the configuration register setting on your device ?

Ok, after watching the bootup process, the image is not supported. Guess I have to double check the IOS.

Console into the appliance and reboot. Post the entire boot-up process. We want to see what's going on.

Well I have done boot system(SPACE)flash(SPACE)(image name
boot system bootflash:
etc.
Still would not load regardless of how I am entering the commands.
Turns out message show image is not supported during the start-up process. I will download and use another image that is supported and see what happens.

It was a 4000 series Router.

Looks like I had to do

no boot system flash bootflash:(image name)

then boot system flash bootflash:(image name)

Yes confusing - tabs stop working when entering bootflash part but yes it takes it no problem.

I did this after loading a different .bin image and it worked.

I kept getting unsupported boot image: "flash" or something like that.
