Hi,
I want to change the HSRP groups on my gateway interfaces to have a separate group per VLAN but I will have to keep traffic going whilst I do it. I figure I will have to add the old virtual interface MAC address to the interfaces as a static address, but it occurred to me that many people here prolly have a tried and tested procedure for this.
Thanks in advance,
Peter.

Isn't there a time period when the users aren't using the system or atleast when there are reduced users on the subnet? That would usually be the best time to push through your changes and still allow you to verify everything is working as it should.

The ARP timeout means that you need a three hour window and some of the old Cisco gear took 7 days for ARP entries to time out.
If I can add an extra MAC address to the virtual gateway IP it will fix this.
