Hi,
Is it possible to log into an unmanaged switch? I have the above switch and need to turn on the following ports:
5900 (VNC)
3283
5988
Many thanks,
Steven Whyte

Hi Steven,
I'm afraid it is not possible to log into an unmanaged switch - hence the name. Unmanaged switches are plug-and-play devices with no configuration options available. However the switch should forward all traffic by default. If you have any problems it is most likely related to a router in your network or firewall on your host machine, not the switch.
May I know what your scenario/setup is?. Are you trying to enable (open) these ports in home environment?
Best regards,
Jan

Hi Jan,
Many thanks for your reply. I thought as much! My set up is a simple one. 20 macmini's, 1 iMac and 1 macBook and 2 printers plugged into the 24 port switch above.
I've had issues using Apple Remote Desktop and Apple advised opening up these ports to allow me to see and connect to them on my network. At present, whenever I try to do this, all clients appear as status "Sleeping".
I reckon there is an issue with the Apple Software and I will persue this further with Apple. I've never had issues in the past with the switch.
Many thanks again for answering.
Steven
