I hope someone can help.
I have tried what I believe is everything to get this 2801 to work. It's been days and I cannot get it out of rommon mode.
I tried tftp'ing an image over from rommon but I can only do a -r to get image to somewhat load. This is the only way so fatr I can get to a router> prompt. Otherwise I only get to a rommon prompt. When I get that far my show version is:
Cisco 2801 (revision 5.0) with 117760K/13312K bytes of memory.
Processor board ID FTX0936Y16R
2 FastEthernet interfaces
1 Virtual Private Network (VPN) Module
DRAM configuration is 64 bits wide with parity disabled.
191K bytes of NVRAM.
3840K bytes of ATA CompactFlash (Read/Write)
Configuration register is 0x2102
The compact flash card says its about 60mb in size on the card itself. The image size is 31.4mb.
After I do tftpdnld -r with that image, which gets me to a router> prompt. I can then copy tftp that file to the flash: directory but the router never loads from the flash: directory. I always get a cannot load flash: message.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I disagree. From your output it says you have a 4mb CF.11-07-2010 05:16 PM
I understand that but that is the result from doing a tftpdnld -r. Which is the only way I can get to a router prompt and not a rommon prompt.
When I take out the card it does not say only about 4MB. I don't have it in front of me as I type this but it's aroung 60MB or so. It says that right on the card when I take it out.
Thank you.
