Cisco 2901 FXS Analog Port Card Install

Hi, I’m trying to install a Cisco 2 port FXS card into a Cisco 2901 router. I’ve read the tutorials and understand the router must be unplugged when the card is being installed. My fear, however, is upon reboot will any issues arise. I.e. I’ve read sometimes the router will lose its configuration upon reboot. If anyone could Clarify the install, and power cycle process I’d really appreciate it.

Hi if you haven't done this yet no it shouldn't lose its config and to be safe backup the startup config to flash so it can be rebooted in case of massive failure like that , copy start flash:Todaysconfig.cfg then if you did loose it on power up do , copy flash:Todaysconfig.cfg running-config

also make sure router is definitely powered down these parts are not OIR and if you have it use a static wrist band , it should be fine , when it boots up check the show inventory to see the part is now listed in the routers hardware
