CISCO 2960 STACK

Hi,

I have stacked one 48 port switch and 24 switch and was working fine. But after one week the stack was disconnected even after the cable is connected perfectly. Then I used the same software for both the device and worked again and after one month it disconnected again.

Is there any incompatibility between 24 port and 48 port for stacking each other ?

Thanking you

Once the 2 switches are running same minor and major software numbers it should be ok in terms of compatibility , the fact its running for a month and then breaks would suggest its not compatibility but some issues causing it , have you tried a different software version as you may be triggering a bug but if you collect the show tech when it happens you should be able to identify what exactly is happening whether hardware or software causing it

do the logs identify anything when the break occurs

Without any relevant information, it's hard to determine what is wrong.
1. What is the IOS version the stack is running on?
2. During the time of the "disconnection" what does the logs show?

Dear Leao

I got the error log as follows

"

FlexStack Module SmartChip Authentication Failed

The FlexStack Module inserted in this switch may not have been manufactured by Cisco or with Cisco's authorization. If your use of this product is the cause of a support issue"

I have checked the serial number using the url http://serialnumbervalidation.com/63972/cgi-bin/index.cgi

and I got the result as

Enter Serial Numbers as a comma separated list or with one number per line:
Serial Number Status
F0C200369T9 Not Affected

RMA the FlexStack module.
