Greetings,
We have 16 Catalyst 2960-X switches that we are using for instruction, we are getting clock errors when powered up by the students, when the time and date are set everything is fine, until powered down an re-started (many times by the students). Normal thinking would result in replacing the CMOS battery, but we can not find any documentation regarding any procedures. We realize that these are EOL, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Hello,
Not sure on the procedure for that but maybe have an initial config (not related to the class) with some NTP information internal to the network. That way the devices pull correct time even if they lose it after power off.

Thank You for your response, Unfortunately these switches are wiped to factory settings at the end of every class, then unplugged, and sit until the next class, when they are powered up for the next class, is when we are getting clock errors

to save your effort,
configure NTP

What clock errors? Show us what they are.

Greetings, Thank You for your response,
I do not have a current example, as we are half way through our class cycle, when the next class starts, I will grab an example and send it.

Just a reminder, Cisco switches, regardless if it is Catalyst, Nexus, SMB, etc, they do not hold clock.
Configuring NTP is the only way for Cisco appliances to synchronize to the correct time and date.
