Cisco 3560G and Meru AP320 Power Cycle

I have a catalyst 3560G switch that is having a hard time giving power to a Meru AP 320.  The following error is on the switch:

010422: *Sep 25 16:53:48: %ILPOWER-3-CONTROLLER_PORT_ERR: Controller port error,

Interface Gi0/1: Power Controller reports power Imax error detected

If I do a sho power inline it will eventually go to faulty in Oper column.  This happens no matter what port I plug the AP in...

Any ideas?

We are having the same issues. One switch already has two working APs connected. We got a third to come up, but when we swtiched it to a different port it started giving this exact same error.

Meru suggested the following:

config t

int gig0/x

shut

power inline port 2x-mode

no shut

This has worked for some APs but not for others. We were also told that this configuration might need to be reapplied in the event the switch is rebooted.

What version of OS do you have?  I cannot enter that command.  I just updated the switch to 12.2(58)SE2.  The only real solution I found that works all the time is if the cable is longer then 50'.

I see, I was working mostly on 3560E switches with version 12.2(55)SE3. I tried that command on a 3560G and indeed it does not work. I am sorry.

One of the APs we are having trouble with is mounted in the same room as the switch with a short cable. We will try a longer cable, per your suggestion.

We just spoke with a Meru technician who used to work for Cisco. He said that this problem is related to impedance on the ethernet cable. That is why your longer cables work when shorter ones do not. Meru is working on a solution, but rumor has it there is some sort of adapter that can be purchased as a workaround.
