Hi All,
I have a been trying to get some Polycom Soundpoint 335's powering up on Cisco 3750-X's. Some 335's power fine, others give this error in the debug
*Mar 1 04:24:39.441: ILP uses DC Disconnect(Gi3/0/26): state= ILP_DETECTING_S, event= ILP_AUTO_NEG_DELAY_TIMEOUT_EV
*Mar 1 04:24:39.441: ILP disable DTE detection X seconds (Gi3/0/26)
*Mar 1 04:24:43.853: ILP uses DC Disconnect(Gi3/0/25): state= ILP_DETECTING_S, event= ILP_AUTO_NEG_DELAY_TIMEOUT_EV
*Mar 1 04:24:43.853: ILP disable DTE detection X seconds (Gi3/0/25)
*Mar 1 04:24:44.449: ILP uses DC Disconnect(Gi3/0/26): state= ILP_DETECTING_S, event= DISABLE_DTE_TIMER_EV
*Mar 1 04:24:48.341: ILP uses DC Disconnect(Gi3/0/26): state= ILP_DETECTING_S, event= ILP_IEEE_DET_SHORT_EV
*Mar 1 04:24:48.853: ILP uses DC Disconnect(Gi3/0/25): state= ILP_DETECTING_S, event= DISABLE_DTE_TIMER_EV
I have tried setting power to static, tried other 3750-X switches and they also exhibit the same problem. I have tried upgrading the Cisco IOS.
I have tried the latest Polycom BootRom & firmware in the 335's
Any tips?
Thanks

can you check power supply module in 3750-x ?
12-19-2010 03:51 AM
thank-you for the reply.
what do you want me to check?
I have a large number of 3750-x switches. On some 3750-x switches the phones do not even power. Other switches the phone may power on one side of the switch i.e say ports 1-15 and then if you try ports 20-48 they wont power.
I have done a full diag on the switch and it passes without error.
thank-you

Hi,
Can you issue command "show power inline consumption" to see how much power is currently being used?
Are you using 350W or 715W power supplies?

The logs make me think the phones are having issue autonegotiating the correct wattage; I also noticed they are pulling different wattages in the output you posted. Have you verified what wattage a phone that successfully boots uses from that command? you can always apply static wattage to the port using the power inline consumption command for testing.

Thanks for the reply.
The 335's in question (ones that work) draw 5.5 Watts. From my chart below you can see ports 26,43,12 draining higher wattage (this is because they are IP650's etc).
When I have problem 335's if I unplug everything from the switch and plug this problem phone into other ports it wont power. Plug it into another switch of the same model it may not power in any port.
I have played with static inline power settings, max etc.

I have noticed that some Polycom 335 phones (the ones giving trouble) do not report a power class when doing a show power inline.
All they come up with is N/A. Good 335's come up with a class of 2.
