cisco 3750x power question

Hi all

today I ran a test, I stacked 2 x cisco 3750x switches with stack power. I then removed one power cable so they ran from one power supply.

a snmp trap was generated that said insufficient power, however when I plugged in a pc into both switches it seemed to work.

will they work off one power supply if only pc's are connected ?

cheers

Hi

Yes this is correctly observed.

2 3750x 24 port switches without any POE devices connected, will boot and stay alive on one 350w powersupply.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps6406/data_sheet_c78-584733.html

check table 15 for power consumption values.

One 1100 w should be able to sustain the whole powerstack, so in theory you could have 8 different 1100w powersupplies that gets their power from 8 different powersources such as grid/solar/gas generator/batteries(ups)/solar power/whatever powersource you can find.

that is alot of redundancy.

Good luck
