hi,

i'm going to order few 3850 but i'm not sure which PSU to get.

the switches will be used for our core and will not connect to any PoE endpoints.

there are several options to choose from table 4: 1100W, 715W and 350W.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3850/hardware/installation/guide/b_c3850_hig/b_c3850_hig_appendix_0111.html

could someone advise if i just get the 350W PSU?

John,

Yes, you can use different types of PSU in each slot and the redundancy should work as well as long as you are not power stacking them.

Hi John,

Since you are not serving any POE endpoints, The 350W will work just fine. Since this is for your core, I would get the switches with redundant PSUs.

hi reza,

thanks! i'm thinking the same thing.

can i mix the PSU? i know i have a spare 1100W.

can insert 1100W on one slot and a 350W on the other?
