Hello all,
I have a 3850 mixed "version" stack as seen below but I unfortunately just noticed that member 4 is does NOT have PoE and I need to swap this to a 3850 that does have PoE. Has anyone done this and can recommend any steps? I assume this would need to also be done in maintenance window?
switch 1 provision ws-c3850-48u
switch 2 provision ws-c3850-48p
switch 3 provision ws-c3850-48p
switch 4 provision ws-c3850-48t <----Switch I need to replace for a 3850 with PoE
switch 5 provision ws-c3850-12x48u
switch 6 provision ws-c3850-12x48u

You don't need a maintenance window,

Hello,
You do not need a mantainance window for the whole stack only for the clients connected to this switch. The process is as follows:
1. Make sure the new switch is the same version as the others in the stack
2. The switch you are replacing is not the master which is great (no need for the whole stack)
3. Power off the Member to be removed
4. Remove Stack-wise cables, and add the new switch to the stack
5. Power on the new switch
6. If you had manually set the member numbers for the switch stack, manually assign the member number of the failed switch to the replacement switch in your case switch X renumber X

In step one by 'version' you do mean the IOS code version, correct?
Thank you

Yes the IOS-XE version has to be the same on all switches in a stack.

Just making sure. Would I need to remove the old provisioned statement for the OLD model switch or does that get updated automatically?
