Cisco 4500x peer reload

Hi,

This should be a really simple question but I can't find a definite answer elsewhere.

When running the command 'Redundancy reload peer' in order to reload the peer supervisor in a live firmware upgrade scenario, will the ports on the peer switch go down, or does the active supervisor have complete control over these ports whilst the peer supervisor is reloading?

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks in advance.

Daryl

Hi,

when you reload the VSS peer switch, you'll also loose all the peer switch ports.

When you follow the "dual attach" design rule, all of the (multi-chassis) etherchannels will just loose one ore more port-channel member ports; so your network should stay operational but with half of its capacity.

Thanks for your quick response Rolf,

That was exactly what I thought but it wasn't clear in documentation.
