Cisco 9200 series not connecting the poe devices

Edwin Mburu 254

Hello professionals? I'm having a challenge with my Cisco catalyst 9200L 24 port poe+ switch. The poe ports are not connecting my poe cameras. I have other 5 switches of the same model and they are working fine.

When I connect my laptop on the ports it connects very well. I have also tested other cameras on the second switch (9200 series) and it connects the poe camera but when I connect it back to the current switch it doesn't connect.

I have tried rebooting, did a factory reset and even change the power module port but still no results. Kindly assist.

Hello @Edwin Mburu 254 ,

can you check if CDP and LLDP are active on your switch? Use the following commands:

show cdp

show lldp

You should see something similar to this:

SW_PROD#sho lldp

Global LLDP Information:
Status: ACTIVE
LLDP advertisements are sent every 30 seconds
LLDP hold time advertised is 120 seconds
LLDP interface reinitialisation delay is 2 seconds

SW_PROD#sho cdp
Global CDP information:
Sending CDP packets every 60 seconds
Sending a holdtime value of 180 seconds
Sending CDPv2 advertisements is enabled

If CDP and/or LLDP are not active on the switch, enable them using the commands:

SW_PROD(config)#cdp run

SW_PROD(config)#lldp run

Hope this helps.

Regards, LG

@Edwin Mburu 254

The problem happens if you connect one camera only?

If the problem happens with multiples cameras this can be related to power supply. Some cameras draw a log of power.  I had similar problem in the past.

check the power supply.

and compare the config with a working switch also.

Hello Flavio

It is an issue with multiple cameras. From ports gig 1/0/9 - 1/0/16
