I think I already know the answer to this.

Will an SFP-10G-SR work in the 4G model if the interface is set to 'speed 1000' ?

It currently keeps err-disabling in the 9200, even with speed at 1000

I have a 9200 connected to a CBS350 (which I am sure will take this module) Would setting the speed in the CBS to 1000 help ?

Its a difficult one to trouble shoot as the switches are on the opposite side of the world to me and time with my IT contacts there is limited each day.

The log is showing sfp-config-mismatch not an invalid SFP

 - No , because the SFP speed is determined per model and can not be changed from the switch interface side ,

A 10 Gbps optics will only work on 10 Gbps speed.
