Cisco 9400 Sup 2XL losses firmware update 17.09.03

Hello, I am having an issue where my 9404r switch with a supervisor 2xl losses the firmware update.

I have two switches stacked together.

Updated via the webgui, in; install mode and to the bootflash.

The stack rebooted on its own after 2 hours of runtime and both switches lost that version.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Please let me know if any additional information.

It's because of the auto abort timer. You have to do a install commit after upgrade. The default auto abort timer is 120min.

Hello daniel,

See below:

sw#sh install summary
[ Chassis 1/R0 2/R0 ] Installed Package(s) Information:
State (St): I - Inactive, U - Activated & Uncommitted,
C - Activated & Committed, D - Deactivated & Uncommitted
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Type St Filename/Version
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IMG C 17.09.03.0.4111

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Auto abort timer: inactive
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It seems that the auto abort timer is inactive.

Yes it activates after you do a install activate... After you do the upgrade check the same command.

Hello Daniel,

The firmware seems to be Activated and Committed, I have done the install and activate process through the webgui and rebooted the units. That is where the information in previous reply came from.

Current uptime is 2 hr 29 m with no shutdowns as of yet.

That is correct, thank you Daniel.

For anyone viewing this thread in the future:

show install summary - make sure the firmware update is Activated & Committed (C).

install commit
