Hi All

I am in process of putting a spec together for a Cisco 9410 switch.

One of the parts listed on the ordering page is a Sata M2 memory drive.

Can anyone tell me if this is actually required? we are using the switch for campus layer 3 core only.

cheers

Carl

Hi
Its for software defined LAN a module part on the SUP
if you remove it you wont be able to do any of the SD features as it wont be able to store the files

Hi

So if we want to bring these into DNA at a later point as a managed device then we need these drives ?

I dont think it will block you from using DNA as thats central software and once you have the specific DNA license you can manage the switch
There are other tools that can be launched inside the container that may help with DNA but i do think its optional mod depending what your doing in programmability on the switch itself

M.2 Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) Storage
Provides extra storage to host applications and to capture packet trace logs. M.2 SATA also supports Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology System (S.M.A.R.T.) attributes. You can monitor the health of SATA device through the S.M.A.R.T tools integrated in the Cisco IOS XE Fuji 16.9.1 image.

Carl,

According to the datasheet of the supervisor engine, the SSD disks are optional and are for container-based software storage. You can run containers on the supervisors nowadays and obviously that might require more storage, than what built-in flash can offer.
