Hello Guys.
We are going to implement 2 Switches 9600 on Stackwise Virtual.
We have already made this arregment on a lab, we configured all the requeriments of vlans, protocols, interfaces, etc and they are going to be installed on a windows maintenance soon.
The thing is the customer made changes on vlan configuration on the Switch that was acting as the Standby/Secondary (They were not connected by stackwise when the changes were made cause only one was able to be racked due to space on the rack). The question is, once we add the Primary/Active Switch to the Stackwise Virtual, how is going to act the configuration? Is it going to stay with the vlans deleted as the changes made on the Switch Secondary/Standby that now is powered on... or once we connect the Primary/Active Switch the configuration is going to change adding again the Vlans that were deleted?
I hope you can help me solve this doubt.
Regards!

Hi,
Ok, so if the switches are already converted, you should not lose any config. So, whichever switch you bring online first will be the primary, once you connect the second switch it will boot up as secondary. Now, the first switch will sync the config to the second switch. At this time you have primary and secondary. You can always change the role later and make the 2nd switch primary if you want to. That said, I would still make a good backup of the config in case something does not go as planned and you need to load the config manually during the maintenance window.

Hi,
The previous config (before converting to Stackwise virtual) will be overwritten once the devices are converted. I recommend making a really good copy of the config before converting, make the necessary changes and than copy and paste a section at a time to the new Stackwise virtual system.

Hello Reza. Thank you for your reply.
Well, the Switches are converted already to Stackwise Virtual. They were configured before racking, on a lab environment.
Later we moved them to the Data Center and just one was racked... the Secondary Switch. This is because there is no space for both on the Rack. So, only one is racked and powered on but it has no connections to any block or any device. Once we have the maintenance window we are going to unrack one Switch 6500 and rack the pending Switch 9600 to form again the StackWise Virtual. (The Switch 6500 is acting as the Core and is going to be replace by the Switches 9600).
The question is what is going to happen once we add again the pending Switch 9600, cause the customer removed some vlans from the Switch that was powered on (this was the Standy/Secondary Switch on the StackWise Virtual on the lab environment).
