Hi. I was recently offered an opportunity to purchase a number of 2960 Catalyst Switches from an integrator. I noticed that on the bottom of the units there was a reference to Anatel, which is a Brazilian government organization that clears certain electronics for use in the country. I am wondering if I should be concerned that these might be grey market boxes. If anyone can enlighten me, please do. Thanks!
Marc

I would email tac@cisco.com with some serial numbers and ask them.

Another option I have told customers to do when the price is too good is to tell the seller you want to buy Cisco SmartNet (and only SmartNet) with the devices.
You can't normally buy SmartNet on counterfeit kit. If they can't sell you SmartNet or insist on selling something else then I would say it is not looking too good.
When you get the SmartNet register it against your CCO profile before you pay the bill to make sure it is a real and valid contract.

We have pile of SPA504G phones with the Anatel sticker on the bottom. I pretty sure they are neither counterfeit nor grey market for Czech Republic.
I assume the lot has been originally prepared for Brazilian market, but Cisco decided later to sold them elsewhere for a reason (there are so many possible).
Note the 2960 Catalyst Switch is not Small business class of product, so you are off-topic here. You should consider to move this thread to Other Network Infrastructure Subjects
