I have a Cisco Switch C3850. Now I getting an error "Mainboard hardware authentication failed. Abort init".

The switch was working fine. I was run a command "erase nvram" and reload the switch. After rebbot the switch, I notice that switch was in rommon mode with error "Packege.conf" fine not found. How to packege.conf file was removed, I have no idea.

Then I decided to run emergency recovery and now getting this error

Hi,

I think you have a hardware issue. Open a tac case and request an  RAM.

Thanks

John

Thanks John,

Hi,

On the 3850 packages.conf  is used to boot the switch. If this file is deleted the switch will not boot. You will need t recover the switch. Try the following: copy the 3850 image to usb drive and boot the switch from usb e.g. boot usbflash0:cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.04.E.152-2.E4.bin

When the switch boots, you should be able to copy the image to flash and expand it using software expand file flash: cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.04.E.152-2.E4.bin. A new packages.conf file should be created and you should be able to boot your switch normally.

Thanks

John

Hi John,

Thanks for your valuable suggestion but I have checked with boot from tftp and usbflash0: but not get success.

If you have any other idea please share.

Thanks,

Deepak Kumar
