We have four power supplies seated in our catalyst 6807-XL. But we are using only 2 PS out of 4. Is there any way we can have the switch stop monitoring the other 2 PS and stop the hardware alerts we get frequently from the switch onto our monitoring tool?
environmental alarms:
system minor alarm on power-supply 3 power-output-fail (raised 30w2d ago)
system minor alarm on power-supply 4 power-output-fail (raised 30w2d ago)
power-supply 1:
power-supply 1 fan-fail: OK
power-supply 1 power-input: AC high
power-supply 1 power-output-mode: high
power-supply 1 incompatible with fan: OK
power-supply 1 power-output-fail: OK
power-supply 2:
power-supply 2 fan-fail: OK
power-supply 2 power-input: AC high
power-supply 2 power-output-mode: high
power-supply 2 incompatible with fan: OK
power-supply 2 power-output-fail: OK
power-supply 3:
power-supply 3 power-output-fail: failed
power-supply 4:
power-supply 4 power-output-fail: failed

I am not sure if there is a way on the switch but you can probably ask the management software vendor to change the setting, so SNMP does not pull all the PSUs.

Depending on the vendor, you may have to open a ticket with them, so they can look into it. Sometimes, it requires tweaking the backend server to eliminate the alert.

DarkPhoenix,
If there is no power cable in the 2 power supplies not being used, then why not just remove them, set them aside for spares and put blanking panels in ? Of course, only do this if you have sufficient power in the remaining supplies for Redundant Mode redundancy.
Cheers,
Scott
