Cisco Catalyst 2900XL = Overgrown hub??

Hi!

I have recently picked up a Catalyst 2900XL switch at an auction, and was wondering if I could use it as a glorified hub to connect 6 computers in a home setting, as I have outgrown my current dimestore 4-port hub. After cruising the Cisco tech support areas, I am now more throughly confused than ever before. I am a network newbie, so any help I can get would be really, really appreciated.

A 2900XL switch can be used to replace your hub. If you reset the 2900XL to factory defaults, it essentially will behave similarly to your current hub. The only difference will be that it is a switch, and not a hub.
