Cisco Catalyst 3560-X problems

Before I begin my story, please note that my networking knowledge isn't up to speed and I have little info about how this network was setup.

We had a power outage and our Cisco Catalyst 3560-X switch is giving us some problems.

Let me explain:

The Te1/1 and Te1/2 ports work together as a link aggregation. These ports are connected to a Netgear M4300-24X24F switch. Spanning Tree is also configured on the switch.

After the power outage, the ports on the M4300-24X24F switch were down. When we brought those ports up, the network stopped working. When we unplug Te1/2 everything works. I do see that the ports on the netgear switch are configured as a Trunk member.

So far I found that port Te1/2 is a suspended member of bundle Po2. Also when I do sh vlan, I see port Te1/2 in vlan 1, but port Te1/1 is nowhere to be seen.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello,

the interfaces look configured correctly. I would just remove the 'channel-group 2 mode active' line from both interfaces, delete the port channel interface, and rebuild the entire channel by readding port-channel 2, and add the two member interfaces.

So:

N100#conf t

N100(config)#interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1

N100(config-if)#no channel-group 2 mode active

N100(config-if)#exit

N100(config)#interface TenGigabitEthernet1/2

N100(config-if)#no channel-group 2 mode active

N100(config-if)#exit

N100(config)#no interface port-channel 2

N100(config-if)#end

Then:

N100#conf t

N100(config)#interface port-channel 2

N100(config-if)#exit

N100(config)#interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1

N100(config-if)#channel-group 2 mode active

N100(config-if)#exit

N100(config)#interface TenGigabitEthernet1/2

N100(config-if)#channel-group 2 mode active

N100(config-if)#end

Can you post relavant config -

other side make Switch as Root bridge for VLAN 1 other vlan as priroty to become root bridge.

id the there are in Bundle you should not see any port-blocking, somewhere config lost due to unexpected power loss.

Hello,

the interfaces look configured correctly. I would just remove the 'channel-group 2 mode active' line from both interfaces, delete the port channel interface, and rebuild the entire channel by readding port-channel 2, and add the two member interfaces.

So:

N100#conf t

N100(config)#interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1

N100(config-if)#no channel-group 2 mode active

N100(config-if)#exit

N100(config)#interface TenGigabitEthernet1/2

N100(config-if)#no channel-group 2 mode active

N100(config-if)#exit

N100(config)#no interface port-channel 2

N100(config-if)#end

Then:

N100#conf t

N100(config)#interface port-channel 2

N100(config-if)#exit

N100(config)#interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1

N100(config-if)#channel-group 2 mode active

N100(config-if)#exit

N100(config)#interface TenGigabitEthernet1/2

N100(config-if)#channel-group 2 mode active

N100(config-if)#end

Thanks for the reply, I will try this Thursday and keep you posted.

This solution worked in combination with fixing the native vlan, some switches reverted to VLAN1.
