Greetings,
We are trying to troubleshoot a Cisco Catalyst 6506E 720Sup switch. When powered ON, the switch keeps getting into Rommon mode.I have tried the recovery procedure using the s72033-ipbase-vz.122-33.SXI2a.bin on the bootflash:. Any command I issue freezes the switch & it resets automatic.
Router(config)#boot system sup-bootflash:s72033-ipbase-vz.122-33.SXI2a.bin

Hi,
It appears that IOS is crashing during the reboot. Try to load a different version of IOS and test again.

Thanks for answering ! At present all the lan indicators are OFF & every time we try to configure the management port, the switch resets. The system LED is RED. I tried the xmodem way & its too slow. We may have to get a flash card to boot the new IOS.Could this be a hardware failure ? I managed to get the crashinfo report on the bootdisk. Attached:

Try using a spare flash card (disk0). Load a newer version of IOS on it and see if you can boot it from that if not change the baud rate on the xmodem to 115200 so it can load faster.
If the new IOS does not help than you have a hardware issue.
I know that IOS SX2a was pretty buggy.
