Hi every body!

My book says the following:

"Wlan clients may use wireless NIC from a large number of vendors. to help ensure that the clients can work with cisco APs, Cisco started the cisco compatible extentions program."

Let say i want to set up wireless lan using cisco Ap .

Let say i bought a wireless NIC which is CCXv1 certified.

CCXv1 has following features:

basic 802.11 and wi-fi compatibility

802.1x authntication for leap

multple ssids use.

Now i have to find cisco AP with which atleast supports the above mentioned features. Is my concept correct?

Thanks and have a nice day!

HI Zeeshan,

Cisco AP's are backward compatible. Meaning, if you use a AP1130, it can see CCXv1 to CCXv5. You don't need to find a Cisco AP that will support one specific CCX version. On the contrary, CCX versions are dependent on the drivers of your wireless NIC.
