Folks, when it comes to deploying Cisco Nexus 7k and creating VDC, is it recommended to have the "R&D VDC" and the "Production VDC" both on the same physical box?
In case of some broadcast storm on the "R&D VDC" could that even affect the "Production VDC" or the Physical switch in general?
Is there any documentation which speaks about how the Nexus switch manages the VDC and keep allocated resources separate which will give us some better understanding if needed?
Thanks!!

Hi,
A broadcast storm on the "R&D" VDC should not have any impact on "Production" VDC, as each VDCs is like having a separate switch. The only way you can connect VDCs together is by physically running a cable from one VDC to another.
Here is a good doc on VDC architecture.

Hi network_geek1979,
In VDC, resources are segregated and have no impact from each other. it is like virtual compartment on a physical box.
with the basic Nexus license, you can create max 4 VDC. if you need additional VDC to be created, you need to go buy Advanced Services License. which can help you creating total 8 VDC on a Physical switch.
You will find this document helpful if you are First timer for VDC creation.

Hope this helps.
