Dear Friends,

I am facing an unrealistic  issue these day. I have mouted a cisco 2950G series switch in the network. we are working on Multicasting so I have LAN connectivity from one location ot other. please have look for scenario of network.

My office____lan connected with cisco 2960----------Mux(Local)----------------------------remote location----Mux---------HP switch-------cisco3750(Multicasting)---IP gateway.

Situation:- 1- we do not have to do anything at remote location. its already done with final configuration and workng fine because we other location witch are connected with this same HP switch at remote site and working fine but problem is only with one location where I have changed swithc(cisco2960).

when i connect cable from MUx to the switch cisco swith (Local) on perticular port its doese not response (LED continuously glowing amber colore and does not go to green color) and communication does not start.for fixing this issue I have done so many things, vlan, duplex, speed- done everything but resoponse.

situation 2:-when I changed this cisco device and use any other vendor's switch whether its manageble not manageble its get start proper communication.

so I am unable to figure out whats the issue with. is there new or latest switch are not compatible with other wendor.

please help me, its very urgent!

Thanks

Rafi

Hi Rafi,

Please post the output of these commands on the Cisco Catalyst switch that keeps the port in amber:

  • show running-config
  • show spanning-tree
  • show vlan brief
  • show interfaces trunk
  • show interfaces status
  • show interfaces XXX switchport ! replace XXX with the name and number of the interface connected to the Mux

I suppose that some kind of STP problem prevents your switch from talking to to the other side but it is very important that you post these outputs. Thank you!

Best regards,

Peter
