Cisco OQD Detection mechanism

Hi

I want to know how does cisco detect OQD detection on one interface ? Does Cisco use particular protocol for overflow detection on output queues?for example sening some special packet on wire to another peer.

There is no specific protocol. Output Queue Drops can happen due to your QOS is configured to drop the packet at some traffic rate or the traffic rate is exceeding the line rate.

If the interface hardware receives traffic at high rate than the line rate, it will start dropping the packet and you will see output queue drops
