Cisco routers with support for several layer 3 subnets

Hi all,

I am the administrator of a small business, I am such a newbie, specially regarding to routers, I'd like to handle my desired network topology with one device (and maybe some extra swith to add some ports, but nothing else). Well my problem is that I can't figure out which routers supports layer 3 subnets implementations. In most of the datasheets I have had a look they precise how many VLAN they can handle, but I can't find if I can configure several LANs. We are a small business, so I am having a look at small routers like cisco 500 series.

The topology I am looking for would be something like this

Router

  |

  |-> Subnet 1 (192.168.1.0/24) Developers (4 users)

  |

  |-> Subnet 2 (192.168.2.0/24) Administration Workers (3~4  users)

  |

  |-> Subnet 3 (192.168.3.0/24) Servers and printers (2 servers 1 priner)

  |

  |-> Subnet 4 (192.168.4.0/24) Wireless

Does anybody know if this would be possible with small simple routers like cisco 500 series or any other similar?

According to the references that I find the Cisco 500 series will support up to 4 VLANs. which should support the four subnets that you discuss. Since you do not identify any otther requirements we can not be more specific. But it looks like the Cisco 500 should be adequate for you.

Thanks Richard,

I will have a look at them. I was just courious because I read surfin the net that VLAN where applied on OSI layer 2 so I was in doubt if I could apply over that different TCP/IP networks with different IPs. as I expected, no problem, I just wanted to be sure.
