Cisco SM-X Layer 2/3 EtherSwitch Service Module (ESM)

Hi,

when i install the SM-X Ethernet switch service module with 16 port there is two extra port in the number of the interface and the GigabitEthernet0/17 and GigabitEthernet0/18.

can someone told me what are these interfaces.

Hi,

I think GigabitEthernet0/17 and GigabitEthernet0/18 are the uplinks to the router.

you are correct but i do not know why the GigabitEthernet0/17 cannot be routed port but the GigabitEthernet0/18 can.   

Did not know that and not sure exactly why that is the case.

maybe Cisco wants to keep the function separate per port.
