Dear experts
Good day and I hope you are doing well
We have some industrial cisco switches for CCTV connections for some reason we need to replace with switches for other brand,
We will use 4-Port Ethernet and 2-Port SFP to complete the ring topology
Our concern with compatibility between Cisco switch catalyst 2960 x and other brands
Is there any issue with compatibility
If you can advise which brand suitable to this case and if I use SFP cisco with both end is there any issue
Thanks for your help and advice

Hi,
Most switch brands work with CCTV equipment as long as they are standard Ethernet. If you are trying to replace Cisco, one great option is Juniper switches.

Thanks, Reza for confirmation that means it will normal to bring uplink up by using SFP cisco for both switches (unknown switch + cisco)

This has to be tested case by case as sometimes Cisco SFPs work on other devices and sometimes don't.

I agree with Reza. I experienced for example a compatibility between a HP 7500 switches with Cisco GLC-LH-SM tranceivers.

Others have addressed the SFP compatibility but I would add sometimes you run into issues with Cisco's PVSTP and non-Cisco STP.
