Cisco Switch Stacking of C2960X

I have a client who is currently using 2x 48 ports and 1x 24 ports, all three switches have been stacked together.

We are going to insert another 48 port switch in

48port

48port

(insert 48port)

24 port

What is the command line to save the configuration settings so that the switch port assignment does not jump about?

Hi Kevin,

Before you attempt any work on expanding this switch stack please read the following guide:-

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst2960x/software/15-2_2_e/stack_manager/configuration_guide/b_stack_ha_1522e_2960x_cg/b_stck_152ex_2960-x_cg_chapter_010.html

Hi! Alex,

I know the concept, and I know that I have to renumber the new switch as a member of the switch stack. That number will be 1 same as the other two switches.

What I am facing is that we are going to turn off the master switch to lower it down one level so that the new switch will be on top of it.

The new switch will be a member due to it's priority value set to 1 but what about the configuration? How can the configuration from the master switch be propogated to the new switch and the master switch will take on the next set of configuration fies.

The first two switches are labelled as:

1/0/1, 1/0/2, 1/0/3, etc..., 1/0/48. (Member, switch 1)

2/0/1, 2/0/2, 2/0/3, etc... 2/0/48 (Member, switch 2)

3/0/1, 3/0/2, 3/0/3, etc... 3/0/24 (Master, switch 3)

We then want to install the new switch in this manner:

1/0/1, 1/0/2, 1/0/3, etc..., 1/0/48. (Member, switch 1)

2/0/1, 2/0/2, 2/0/3, etc... 2/0/48 (Member, switch 2)

3/0/1, 3/0/2, 3/0/3, etc... 3/0/48 (Member, switch 3)

4/0/1, 4/0/2, 4/0/3, etc... 4/0/24 (Master, switch 4)

What is the command line so that the config in switch 4 propogates to switch 3?
