Greetings,
I have just got a refurbished Cisco WS-C3500-XL switch for my home network but I do not see any fast ethernet ports when I do show interfaces status, I only see two Gigabit ports Gi0/1 and Gi0/2. I have also reset the switch to factory default settings but that did not help either. Show running-config also shows the two Gigabit interface and one VLAN interface that I created during first time configuration wizard.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Mark Malone,
Thanks for your reply. config t and then interface ? shows the below output:
GigabitEthernet GigabitEthernet IEEE 802.3z
Multilink Multilink-group interface
Port-channel Ethernet Channel of interfaces
VLAN Switch VLAN Virtual Interface
Virtual-TokenRing Virtual TokenRing
Strangely enough, show version shows the 48 Fast Ethernet ports but I am unable to see them anywhere else:

Could you please help me turn on the alerts or logging for hardware problems?
Thanks,

To me it looks faulty as you cant even see the ports, that suggest there may be a board problem , the 2 gb ports are most likely on a separate ASIC on the switch so are not effected
The fact you cant see the ports is not good , no matter what you do ports should always be there configurable on a switch , you can only turn thm, on or off you cant make them disappear like that without something not be right internally
hardware faults should come straight to console by default if not you can set logging console or logging monitor if remote but if the borads not responding at all for the FEs then it wont alert anyway
what does the show inventory provide

show inventory does not work. I think you are right, it might be a faulty board. I will talk to the vendor. Thanks for your quick help!
